Weddings
Start married life with a bang.
At Greek weddings, a breaking plate wishes the couple luck and abundance. Here's how to bring that moment to yours.
When to smash
The grand entrance
Guests line the floor and smash as you walk in. Loud, joyful, unforgettable.
The first dance finale
The song ends, the plates drop, the room erupts.
The band kicks in
Open the dance floor with a smash and nobody sits down again.
The family circle
Close family breaks a plate together to wish the couple luck.
Your planning checklist
- 01
Count participants, not invitations, and plan one to two plates each. Orders start at 10; for 500+, ask for a bulk quote.
- 02
Plates are made to order and dispatched within 2–3 days, then travel by courier, so order well before the wedding.
- 03
Check with your venue: you need a hard floor and their OK. Many venues love it when you share a clean-up plan.
- 04
Brief your planner, DJ or band on the exact cue, and assign someone to hand out plates and someone to sweep.
Then read the safety guide, how it works and our sangeet ideas.
